In Dehradun, the abduction and murder of a little girl has gone unsolved for years. Inspectors Vamika (Kritika Kamra) and Yug (Raghav Juyal) have a few days' window to nab the culprit; if they fail, an incoming statute of limitations would render such unresolved cases closed.

In 2006, ten friends from an arts club in Kochi leave on a trip to Kodaikanal in the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu, during the Onam vacation. They explore Kodaikanal and before leaving, one of the friends, Sudhi mentions the Guna Caves, a place where the film Gunaa was shot. Inebriated and high, the friends go there and decide to explore the caves' restricted areas, despite a warning from tourist guide Dominic. Upon reaching a point, some friends decide to etch down their group name "Manjummel Boys" on a wall.
After doing so, they decide to regroup to take a picture. Subhash, one of the friends, falls into a hole while moving towards the group. Initially, everyone assumes he is pulling a prank, but he does not respond after they repeatedly call out to him. Some friends leave to get help and inform the locals of what happened. The locals suggest going to the police station and forest guard.
The locals also say that the specific area was off-limits for a reason and that so far thirteen people have fallen into that hole and none were ever recovered. They mention the hole is over 900 feet deep and the British called the place The Devil's Kitchen. The friends reach the police station, where they are beaten; the police file an FIR against them for entering a restricted area. They are also accused of murdering Subhash and giving false complaints and no help is offered. Meanwhile, rain starts to flood the hole.

Set in 1996, four strange suicides occur in the rural town of Mahalakshmipuram, with someone writing confessions of illicit affairs between the victims on random walls. Although everything appears to be fine in the village, there is a lot of conflict among the locals. The newly assigned SI Maaya begins investigating the suicides and realizes that they are murders. As the investigation progresses, she soon finds a link between the deaths and RMP Viswanatham, a kindhearted man. When she catches him red-handed writing a confession on a wall, they both have a minor scuffle in which he manages to subdue and tie her up in his backyard.
Maaya manages to break free and confronts him about his relationship with a woman named Sailaja, to which, he admits that Sailaja was a genuine victim of sexual abuse owing to her hormonal imbalance, which causes her to lose control over her sexual desires. While pursuing her degree, she falls for her English lecturer, Madan, who pretends to reciprocate her love to exploit her physically. She gets emotionally scarred when the professor marries his colleague from the college. Due to these circumstances, she loses control of her sexual desires, forcing her to make rash judgments and engage in sex with random men in the village. One night, Viswanatham accidentally meets her, and after knowing her situation, he decides to take care of her like his late daughter while not being bothered about the villager's gossip.

Jaspal Singh (Tarsem Jassar), an honest person, is appointed as a Kanungo (a Revenue Inspector, under whom five Patwaris or agricultural land clerks work). Therefore, Kashmiro (Gurpreet Kaur Bhangu), a well wisher and senior lady from his village, wants him to marry her niece, Harman (Nimrat Khaira), who is a teacher in a government school and wants to marry someone in a government job.
Bharpur Singh (Karamjit Anmol), who is a corrupt Patwari (agricultural land clerk) from Harman's village, also has his eye on Harman. When he approaches Harman's drunken and illiterate father regarding his land, he lies and informs him that a Patwari post is higher and richer than that of Kanungo, and therefore the father should have Harman marry Bharpur. So when Jaspal and his family approach Harman's family for her hand, Harman's father refuses them, even though everyone, including Harman, likes Jaspal. As Jaspal is leaving, Harman advises him to work hard and get a post of Patwari so that her father will accept him, to which Jaspal replies that hard work leads to promotion and not demotion, so how can he become a junior official when he is a senior official?
