⁣et one year after the events of Despicable Me 3, the film begins with Gru, now an Anti-Villain League (AVL) agent, attending a reunion at his alma mater, Lycée Pas Bon. Here, he encounters his old rival, Maxime Le Mal, who holds a grudge against Gru for a past incident. Maxime, now enhanced with cockroach parts, seeks revenge on Gru by turning his infant son, Gru Jr., into a human-roach hybrid.
